Roger Mattox

LeFlore County heritage -
Roger’s grandparents, Charlie and Florence Mattox, came to LeFlore County in the 1890s in a covered wagon. Charlie went to work for the Kansas City Railroad in Shady Point while Roger’s father, Carl J. Mattox, worked for Rock Island Railroad for 37 years.Five generations of their family have called LeFlore County home.
Roger was born in Heavener and raised on a farm in Howe. His ministry work has occasionally taken him away, but he has always returned home to LeFlore County. Roger and Barbra have been married more than 40 years and have three sons and nine grandkids. At age 20, Roger joined the US Marines, serving in Okinawa, Japan. After his tour of duty, Roger entered the ministry. He has pastored churches in Poteau, LeFlore, Wister, and Arkansas.
Broad Experience -
Serving with the national office of the Assemblies of God, Roger coordinated benevolence ministries, including the children’s home and adoption center, and conducted relief efforts in disaster zones. Roger also started Oasis International Ministries, which conducts numerous humanitarian and church-building projects in Ghana, West Africa.
Firm Convictions -
Roger is the right leader in these times because he understands that we need to remove barriers on local employers to spark job creation and revive our economy. He wants to increase local control for our schools. And he believes in greater individual liberty, limiting the size of government, and protecting the sanctity of life.
